Illumination of QLD and NT sites for Festa della Repubblica

2 June

It has been the role of COMITES QLD NT for several years to liaise with Brisbane City Council to arrange for the Story Bridge to be lit up in the tricolori in celebration of Festa della Repubblica 2 June.

In 2023 more sites across Queensland and the Northern Territory were illuminated in the tricolori or in azzurro.

The idea of displaying the colours is to

  • Invite the wider community to enjoy all things Italian

  • Acknowledge the contribution that Italo-Australians have made and continue to make in local society

  • Celebrate cultural diversity and inclusivity in our vibrant cities

  • Provide a beacon of welcome for new arrivals.
